Started in 2001 and then celebrated every year there after, Talakudong Festival field dance tells a story of how Tacurong City probably got its name. “Kudong” refers to a “headgear” worn by natives and early settlers of this part of Mindanao. It was then thought that the early christian settlers of Tacurong gave the Sultan of Buluan a gift of golden Kudong as a way of thanking the Datu for the peace and prosperity in the area. Depicted in a dance, and sprinkled with entertaining storytelling, the current “reenactment’ is as spectacular as the festival itself.
